1-1⁄2 c. all-purpose flour 3⁄4 c. sugar 2 t. baking powder 1 t. cinnamon 1⁄4 t. salt 1⁄2 c. butter, softened 2 eggs, beaten 3⁄4 c. milk 2-1⁄4 c. apples, peeled, cored, sliced and divided
TOPPING: 1⁄2 c. brown sugar, packed 3 T. all-purpose flour 1⁄2 c. chopped walnuts 1-1⁄2 t. cinnamon 1 T. butter
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt in a bowl; mix well. Blend in butter, eggs and milk; pour half of batter into a greased and floured 9"x9" baking pan. Prepare Topping: Combine all Topping ingredients in a bowl; mix well. Arrange half of apples over batter; sprinkle with half of the Topping. Arrange remaining apples over Topping, followed by remaining batter and remaining Topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
