8 to 10 beef cube steaks
pepper to taste
1.35 oz. pkg. onion soup mix
3/4 c. water
2 10-3/4 oz. cans cream of mushroom soup
warm biscuits or mashed potatoes

Season steaks with pepper; layer in a slow cooker. Stir together soup mix and water in a cup; spread evenly over steaks. Spoon soup over steaks; do not stir. Cover and cook on high setting for 5 to 6 hours, or on low setting for 8 hours, until steaks are tender. Serve steaks and gravy from slow cooker with biscuits or potatoes. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
