Mushroom & Steak Hoagies

1 c. water
1/3 c. soy sauce
1-1/2 t. garlic powder
1-1/2 t. pepper
1-lb. beef round steak, cut into 1/4-inch strips
1 onion, sliced
1 green pepper, thinly sliced
4-oz. can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
2 c. mozzarella cheese
6 hoagie buns, split


Whisk together water, soy sauce, garlic powder and pepper in a bowl; add steak, turning to coat. Cover an refrigerate overnight. Drain and discard marinade; brown steak in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion, green pepper and mushrooms; saute 8 minutes, or until tender. Reduce heat; top with cheese. Remove from heat; stir until cheese melts and meat is coated. Spoon onto buns to serve. Serves 6.
