4 c. all-purpose flour 2 t. baking soda 2 t. cinnamon 1 t. ground ginger 2 t. ground cloves 1 t. salt 2 c. sugar 1-1/2 c. butter 2 eggs 1/2 c. molasses
Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt in a medium bowl; set aside. Cream sugar and butter together in a large mixing bowl; add eggs and molasses, mixing well. Gradually add in flour mixture; roll dough into one-inch balls. Place on ungreased baking sheets; flatten with the bottom of a glass that has been dipped in butter and then sugar to achieve 1/4-inch thickness. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen. | |
