2 c. long-cooking grits,
uncooked
6 c. water
4-oz. can chopped green chiles
1 jalapeƱo pepper, seeded and finely chopped
1/8 t. cayenne pepper
1 t. salt
Optional: 1/2 t. paprika,
1/2 t. chili powder
Garnish: butter, salt and pepper
Combine all ingredients except garnish in a lightly greased slow cooker; mix well. Cover and cook on low setting for about 8 hours. Stir after first hour of cooking; stir well before serving. Serve with
butter, salt and pepper. Makes 6 servings.
