Submitted by: Marian Buckley from Fontana, CA

2 T. water
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
6 fresh figs or 10 dried figs, chopped
1 t. vanilla extract, divided
1/2 c. toasted slivered almonds
14-oz. pkg. Brie cheese round
round buttery crackers

Combine water and brown sugar in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until brown sugar is completely dissolved. Add figs and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Simmer until figs are softened, about 10 minutes. Stir in remaining vanilla and almonds. Place cheese round in an ungreased one-quart round casserole dish. Spoon fig mixture over the top. Bake, uncovered, at 325 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes, until softened but not melted. Serve warm with crackers. Makes 10 servings.
