Christmas Crinkle Cookies

12-oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
1-1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1-1/2 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
1 c. sugar
6 T. butter, softened
1-1/2 t. vanilla extract
2 eggs
3/4 c. powdered sugar


Place one cup chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high setting for one minute; stir. Microwave at additional 10 second intervals, stirring until smooth. Cool to room temperature. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl; set aside. Blend sugar, butter and vanilla in a large bowl; beat in melted chocolate. Add eggs one at a time, stirring well after each. Gradually beat in flour mixture; stir in remaining chips. Chill just until firm. Shape into 1-1/2 inch balls; roll generously in powdered sugar. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes; place on wire racks to cool completely. Makes 4 to 5 dozen.
