4 c. bread, cubed 8-oz. pkg. shredded Cheddar cheese 8 to 10 slices bacon, crisply cooked and coarsely chopped 1/2 c. mushrooms, chopped 1 c. tomatoes, chopped 1/3 c. white onion, chopped 1 c. cooked ham, cubed 10 eggs, well beaten 4 c. milk 1 t. dry mustard 1/4 t. onion powder 1 t. salt 1/4 t. pepper
The day before serving, spread bread cubes in the bottom of a greased deep 13"x9" baking pan. Sprinkle cheese over top. Layer with bacon, vegetables and ham; set aside. In a large bowl, beat together remaining ingredients. Carefully pour milk mixture over layered mixture in pan; do not stir. Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours. Bake, uncovered, at 325 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes, until set in the center. Serve piping hot. Serves 10 to 12. | |
