4 to 6 Red Delicious apples
4 to 6 wooden skewers
14-oz. pkg. caramels, unwrapped
12-oz. pkg. milk chocolate chips
Garnish: crushed chocolate sandwich cookies, multicolored sprinkles, crushed pecans or walnuts
Wash and dry apples; insert sticks into stem end of apples and set aside. Melt caramel candies in a double boiler over medium heat; remove from heat. Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe dish; microwave on high setting, stirring every 15 seconds, until melted. Dip apples into melted caramel, then into melted chocolate. Immediately roll apples in desired garnish. Set apples on buttered
wax paper; cool completely. Place apples in cellophane bags; tie
bags with fabric or ribbon. Makes 4 to 6.
