1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
3-1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. orange slice candies, chopped
1 c. chopped pecans
In a large bowl, combine shortening, brown sugar and eggs; blend well. Stir in buttermilk, baking soda and salt; gradually mix in flour. Fold in candies and pecans. cover and refrigerate for 2 hours. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 2 dozen.
