1 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. whole-wheat flour
4 t. baking powder
1 T. sugar
3/4 t. salt
1/4 c. butter
1 c. milk
Combine flours, baking powder, sugar and salt; mix well. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk just until moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently 8 to 10 times. Roll out to 3/4-inch thickness. Cut with a 2-1/2" round biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly golden. Serve warm. Makes one dozen.
