Enjoy this recipe from Mom's Favorite Recipes.

Submitted by: DarLinda Adams from Orlando, FL

2 navel oranges
1/2 c. butter-flavored shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 t. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
2-1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 t. butter, melted

Score each orange into quarters with a sharp paring knife; peel. Remove white pith from oranges and peels; discard pith. Quarter oranges; add to a blender with peels. Blend until smooth; measure out 3/4 cup for use, refrigerating any remaining for use in another recipe. Cream shortening and sugar in a large mixing bowl; blend in milk and 6 tablespoons orange mixture. Set aside. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; mix into creamed mixture. Drop by teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, on greased baking sheets; bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 13 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool completely. Whisk powdered sugar, butter and enough of the remaining orange mixture to a desired spreading consistency; frost cookies. Makes about 4 dozen.
