Blackberry Cobbler

1/2 c. butter, melted
1 c. plus 2 T. sugar, divided
1 c. water
1-1/2 c. self-rising flour
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. milk, room temperature
2 c. blackberries
1/2 t. cinnamon


Place melted butter in a 9"x9" baking dish. In a saucepan, heat one cup sugar and water until sugar dissolves; set aside. In a separate bowl, cut flour and butter together until coarse crumbs form. Add milk and stir until dough leaves sides of bowl; roll out into a rectangle. Spread dough with berries; sprinkle with cinnamon and roll up jelly roll-style. Cut into 1-1/2 inch slices. Place in pan on top of melted butter. Pour sugar water over top; bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove from oven; sprinkle with remaining sugar and return to oven for 15 additional minutes. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
