10 slices white bread, cubed 1/4 c. butter, melted 1/2 c. raisins 1 t. cinnamon 3/4 c. sugar 6 eggs, beaten 2 t. vanilla extract 1/2 t. salt 3 c. milk 1/8 t. nutmeg Garnish: whipped topping
Combine bread cubes, butter, raisins and cinnamon. Mix well; spread in a lightly greased 2-quart casserole dish. In a medium bowl, blend together sugar, eggs, vanilla and salt until sugar is dissolved. Add milk; beat well. Pour over bread mixture; let stand for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool slightly before serving. Garnish with dollops of whipped topping. Serves 8. | |
